Sequoyah Park is another in a long list of really great downtown city parks in Tahlequah, OK. Located along Town Branch Creek on the Tahlequah History Trail, Sequoyah Park features a skate park in addition to the usual amenities. Visit this link for more information.
Sequoyah Park has a picnic shelter with picnic tables, a BBQ grill, and a playground for the kids. Sequoyah Park‘s claim to fame is that it is one of the featured locations for the Cherokee Nation Film Office. The Cherokee Nation Film office exists to promote Oklahoma locations for use in films. The park itself is narrow, only running seven blocks north-south. The creek is shallow and clear and great for wading. There are benches all along the park, so you can just sit and watch the water flow by.
Since Sequoyah Park is right downtown, you can walk just a few blocks to several nearby attractions. Just south of the park, you will find the Tahlequah Skatepark. Across the street from the Skatepark is the Cherokee National Prison Museum.
Also, just south of Sequoyah Park, you will find the Cherokee National Supreme Court Museum and the Cherokee National History Museum.
The Tahlequah municipal swimming pool is also located within the park.
